This paper presents the prototype of a Digital
Interactive Atlas, which was developed for visualization in the World Wide
Web (WWW), in order to support the presentation of the 10th Administrative
Region of São Paulo State, with emphasis on Presidente Prudente county.
The Atlas’s prototype aimed at making available the cartographic information,
contributing to the democratization of access to that information. For the
development of the prototype were used analogic and digital maps from different
sources, it was necessary to make conversion, compilation, compression and
compatibilization of this data. The prototype allows to use static and dynamic
data, as well as the integration of diverse kinds of media, for example:
texts, images and maps etc.. This paper make a brief reports for the concepts
which were necessary for the development of the prototype using a GIS (Geographic
Information System) structure and then it presents the final product obtained
after the implementation. Finally, some conclusions are presented. Keywords: maps, internet, GIS. |
