This paper showed both activities and methodology adopted in the development of an electronic animal identification system. The principal research’s objective was evaluate this system in the information’s traceability. The resulting product allowed to read information from the cattle during the handling and save it in an database throughout a PC software. Also every ear tag was considered an individual database with properly information. Such information may improve the farm management and commercial transactions with meat processors. This system allowed the first step into farm informatization.
